Differentiated Tasks (June 2026)

Written by Shane Krukowski

In this update:

Differentiate learning with Task Variants

Advisors can now create variants of tasks—customized versions assigned to specific learners. Use variants when learners on the same task need different due dates, learning targets, instructions, or a modified rubric.

Variants keep related task versions grouped together on the Task Board and in Evidence views, so it's easy to track and manage what each learner is doing without creating separate tasks. Learn more about task variants

Assign tasks to specific learners only

Advisors can create a task and assign it to a specific learner or subset of learners on the module. Other learners not assigned will not see the task nor be able to submit evidence to it. Learn how to assign tasks to learners

Remove learners from a task

Remove a learner from a task. It will not appear on their Task Board. Make accommodations, manage mixed-level groups, or set up alternative pathways.

Filter the Task Board by Learner

Select All Learners, or choose a learner, to view the task board that is seen by that learner, and reflecting only that learner's progress.

Track Assigned Tasks and Variants on Evidence views

When task variants are created, Headrush automatically groups task status information on both the Task Board and Task Evidence views. Click into any variant to see details for specific learners, and toggle "Show all learners" in the Task Evidence view to filter down to just the learners on a particular variant. Enhanced Task Board Detail / Minimal views

The Task Board's detail and minimal views are now more distinct:
