Add context to learning target criteria, both for your entire school and within the context of a specific project or task.

Provide specific criteria for each level of the scale being used to assess learning targets, to better guide learners and inform assessment. Criteria can be set globally, then overridden to better contextualize a specific task or module. Even if an organization has not set criteria for its learning targets, the advisor can populate the criteria for a specific learning design at any time.

Criteria in Context

Target criteria clarify what is expected from learners to demonstrate a particular level of a specific learning target. They also help ensure learning targets are assessed by different people through the same lens.

Applications

Rubrics

When an organization sets up and uses Headrush with respective product and process rubrics as learning targets, adding custom criteria more precisely informs a learner of what is expected and reinforces the transferrable skill of discerning self-assessment.

Guest Assessors

Should you utilize Headrush's guest assessor feature, adding custom criteria mitigates confusion and improves clarity of what is to be considered for those external audiences who may not have an everyday appreciation of assessing students.

Customize criteria on the fly

When adding and assessing learning targets, advisors and module creators can customize the criteria to offer even more specific context to the task or module activity. Customize criteria quickly with a spreadsheet-like experience. Easily paste in your favorite rubrics from a spreadsheet, then tweak them to fit your specific learning design.

πŸ‘‰ Customizing criteria for a specific module or task does not override any global criteria set for the organization.

For a specific module

When selecting targets on the Module Overview -> Learning Targets view, click Edit Target Criteria to start.

For a specific task

While viewing the Task Details -> Assessment section, click Edit Target Criteria to start.

πŸ‘‰ A task's criteria can be different from the module's criteria, for the same target.

Global Setup - for administrators

Headrush accounts with the Admin role can add custom criteria by editing individual learning targets -or- in bulk via the spreadsheet import of learning targets. These are the default criteria that will appear whenever a target is added to a task or module. Advisors and module creators can locally override these criteria in the context of a module or task.

Manually edit criteria

Add / Import criteria from a spreadsheet

Admin accounts can bulk import learning target criteria by importing a spreadsheet that includes columns to the right of the last group description. Each column represents the respective level of the associated assessment scale with that learning target set.

  1. Import or create a learning target set in Headrush.

  2. Setup/select a scale to associate with that learning target set.

  3. Export that learning target set.

  4. Open the exported target set.

  5. Add the respective descriptors for each target/row in the respective columns located to the right of the target description.

  6. Export the newly updated sheet that includes the descriptors as a CSV file.

  7. Go back to Headrush > Admin > Learning Targets > Import Learning Descriptors

  8. Select the CSV file you just created and follow the prompts that follow.

In the example below, notice columns I - L of the spreadsheet. The custom target scale descriptors would be populated in the respective column row combination for each target. If left empty, Headrush will keep empty for that given target.
