How to move a student from one module to another

The module as a building block of learning in Headrush is a little different than a "class" and so, teachers sometimes need to move students around without affecting the detailed activity track of those students.

Students can sometimes remain a part of one module which is still active for other students, even though they themselves are finished and so don't need to be notified for new activity on that module, nor be reminded of any overdue tasks they have open. Likewise, the advisor doesn't want their view of students still active in the module cluttered by students who are not.

Headrush supports two scenarios for moving students between modules, with some important conditions below.

Option 1: Fast and Easy - Leave students where they are

Because of how Headrush tracks student achievement, it's generally easiest to leave the student in the module vs. "move them out." To stop the student from being bothered or distracted by activity in a module that they're finished with, the best approach is to finalize that student in the module's Assessment view:

Note that you can select multiple students and finalize them all:

What to understand:

  1. All previous task or module level assessments on this module will remain assessed. This ensures the student's work in that module is not lost.

  2. The module will show as completed for the selected students.

  3. They will remain on the module, but will be hidden when viewing the module's learners, so it's easy to distinguish who is active.

Option 2: Re-open all assessments and remove the learner

To actually remove a student from a module can be time-consuming depending on how active they were and how many times they were assessed -- and it means all these assessments will disappear:

  1. Re-open all the task assessments they have on that module by going to each task where the student was assessed, and clicking RE-OPEN:

  2. Re-open the student's Module Assessment, if finalized:

  3. Finally, remove the student from the module in the Overview.

What to understand:

Doing this means all the student's assessments on the module are effectively lost.
