Setting a Default Module Starting Point

Decide which module to start with, so that every new module begins with the right aligned targets, task board, templates, and scaffolding

Overview

Different modules may have different fields, taskboards, or templates. The combinations are unlimited. This is why having the right starting points matters.

When a new module is created in Headrush, a copy of an existing module can be chosen as the starting point. Headrush will then use that module's overview, aligned targets, task board, and other settings to create new modules of that type. This feature helps provide consistency, saves setup time, and ensures learners always start with the right scaffolds.


1. How to set it up

  1. Create a new module or find one that's already made – Set it up exactly the way you want future modules to start.

    • Populate the Overview with instructions or scaffolds.

    • Add learning targets that should be aligned to every module.

    • Set up the Tasks with Actions as desired. Add Google templates, task actions, detailed expectations and so on.

  2. Set it as the default

    • Click the module type icon (e.g., Sprint).

    • Only admins will see the option: “Set as Default.”

    • Clicking sets that module as the default for all new modules of that type.


2. What happens next

  • Every new module you start will copy from that default instead of being blank.

  • A small label shows which module is set as default.

  • Edits only apply to future modules—past modules are unchanged.


3. How to find or change the default later

  • Go to Admin → Learning Modules.

  • There’s a column showing the current default module for each type.

  • Clicking the default takes you back into it, where you can make changes.

  • To select a new default from this list, first clear the existing default.

  • Then, click "Select Module" to find a module to use as the new default.


4. Key things to remember

  • Default modules give admins control over how new modules are created.

  • Changes affect new modules only. Past modules will be unaffected by changes to the default.

  • Multiple admins can see and manage defaults.
